Romans 10:4
Memorise Romans 10:4 
“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness…” 

When Adam sinned, the entire human race fell into sin together with him. As a result, we were all lost in our unrighteousness, and there was no way for us to redeem ourselves. The law demands complete obedience but sinful man is unable to keep the commandments perfectly and live a perfect life. Therefore all are condemned and unrighteous before God. 

The only solution for us, is the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 10:4 tells us that it is only through Christ, that we can have perfection in the law. This verse teaches us that faith in Christ grants us this righteousness, for Christ was able to perform all the demands of the law as He lived a perfect life. In fulfilling the law perfectly, He attained God’s standard of righteousness for us, thus enabling us to be justified in His sigh, and be granted eternal life. 

Thus while man by himself has no way of perfectly obeying the law, yet we can have that righteousness by faith in Christ. To everyone that believed in Jesus Christ, it is as if they have perfectly obeyed the law. God sees them as having performed all that the law required, for God sees Christ in them and He led a perfect life of obedience to the law. If Jesus did not lead a perfect life, how can He be said to have fulfilled the requirements of the law? The law demands perfection and every one of us falls short of it. Only Christ can fulfill the law on our behalf. Through Him we are made righteous, and therefore we are saved if we believe on Him, even as Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 

Dear friend, having trusted in the Lord, grow in grace and in the knowledge of Him. Daily and increasingly, see the beauty of Jesus. He was tempted and tried but He was always victorious. Recall His temptation in the wilderness soon after He was baptised, to fulfil righteousness. He never once gave in to Satan’s three temptations (Matthew 4:1-11) but answered him with God’s powerful Word. Jesus Christ has attained the righteousness of the law for us, all we need to do is to believe!

Prayer: Lord of my righteousness, thank You for Your full and perfect obedience that secured for me righteousness, even eternal life.
