JESUS CHRIST, OUR BEST FRIEND
 
Our Lord Jesus Christ is not only our Divine Friend and our loving Friend but also our faithful and caring Friend, our wise and mighty Friend, our best Friend!
 
(a) Our Faithful and Caring Friend: When we have nothing, and no one understands or cares for us, and we may feel lonely or friendless, Jesus our faithful Friend is still with us and will never forsake us (Heb 13:5). Paul’s experience is so encouraging: “no man stood with me, but all men forsook me… Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me and strengthened me” (2 Tim 4:16-17), and Peter’s exhortation is very true: “Casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you” (1 Pet 5:7). When we share our personal problems, burdens, feelings or desires with our close friends, we may become disappointed when they reveal our secrets to others (Prov 11:13). However, we can pour our soul out to the Lord who knows us well, understands us, and sympathises with us and our circumstances. We can surely find comfort and strength from Him, His Word, His faithfulness and His loving care.
 
(b) Our Wise and Mighty Friend: When we are in great trouble or difficulties and we need some guidance or deliverance, who can we turn to? Thanks be to God for our Divine Friend, who is present with us wherever we are and able to help us with His wisdom and power, making all things work together for good unto us according to His sovereignty and timing. Shall we not love and trust in such a Friend who never fails nor disappoints us?
 
It is a great privilege and honour for us to be called a friend of God. The closer we walk with Him, the more we are transformed to be like Him (Prov 27:17; 13:20, John 15:15; 1 John 3:2).
 
THOUGHT: Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is our best Friend.

PRAYER: Father, I thank Thee for never leaving me nor forsaking me.
