THE DESIRE FOR GOD’S WORD
Who knows what will happen tomorrow? No man knows what will happen even a minute from now. There are so many surprises in life, and so too with sufferings. We know not when these will come. There are times we wake up well and are in good shape but later at noon, pains and aches may come. We may start our day’s journey under a bright morning sun, but by midday, a storm may suddenly come and the heavy rain with boisterous winds dampens all the good plans we may have already. Yet, we have a secure and safe place. Disasters and calamities may unexpectedly come, but God’s Word promises relief and help through our Lord Jesus.
The Lord directs – The Lord has commanded us to keep His precepts diligently. He has warned the believer that at any time of the hour, testing and trials may come. Satan, in his evil schemes, will distract those who follow Christ. The Lord allows these experiences for our spiritual good. He has sounded the horn that all must be ready. His people must be in haste and keep His instructions with care.
The believer desires – Christians wish to be directed always. They pray in the morning as they wake up for they know everything must be committed into God’s hand. The enemy is tough and tricky. O, that believers seek direction from God through His Word! It is dangerous out there with bows and arrows flying in from different directions. There is warfare out in the world.
The Lord delivers – Yet, the assurance of Christians is the deliverance from God. His Word promises this, and He never lies. His Word is true and faithful, and not one who trusts in Him will be put to shame. Those who regard His Word with pleasure and turn to it for their destination will surely arrive there safely. His commandments point to the right turn and never miss any. He is the perfect Deliverer, and His Word proves that.
Dear reader, do you trust in His Word to guide and lead you? Are you willing to be directed by the Spirit of God, to remind you of His Word? Dig into His Word and learn from it. Desire the Word of God!
THOUGHT: Do I desire to learn the Word of God?
PRAYER: Father, grant me hunger and thirst for Thy Word.
