TRANSGRESSORS OF GOD’S WORD
 
Transgressors (who may even be professing believers) are those who deal with God’s Word deceitfully. They offend others by their actions, and they deal unfaithfully with God’s Word. They may be piously saying that they are for God and wish to cleanse the church of leaders and church members who they think are against God. Yet, their actions are against the Word. They use God’s Word for their evil intentions to destroy others because of their personal vendetta.
 
Grieve over them: There should be no support for them. They are against the God of the Bible. The psalmist is grieving over them. His grief is not about weeping and mourning, but of detesting and cutting off from those transgressors. He resolves not to have any fellowship with them because they are against God. They deserve not to be befriended for they fight against our Master and our Lord. Even pet dogs defend their owners if someone threatens to harm them. We must be more sensible to stand on the Lord’s side if He is maligned by the enemies. Read Ephesians 5:12.
 
Love God’s Word: The psalmist pursues the Word with love and loyalty. He is not like the transgressors who disobey God’s Word to take vengeance. He must leave that to his Lord to judge them for He is fair and just. He has to devote himself to loving His God, to show others what it means to worship and adore the God of his salvation. People around must see the genuine Christian’s way of life. He must manifest what it means to keep the Word, and not to transgress it. The believer aims to please the Lord, and when judgment comes, he will be spared from the wrath of God’s chastising hand, and he will be welcomed into God’s glorious Kingdom.
 
Dear reader, be not taken in by the wiles of the wicked, tempting us to be like them. God is sovereign and is more powerful. Learn to entrust everything to the LORD so that when things are resolved, He will be glorified. You must endure and abhor that which is evil. Look forward to your Lord and Saviour’s soon return. Transgressors will see God’s wrath during the Great Tribulation.
