A FALLING AWAY: THE RC (2)
 
Yesterday, we considered the socio-economic and political strengths of the RC. Today, let us look into some of its religious operations. An honest and detached examination reveals that the RC’s system of doctrines and dogmas (which determine its practices) are wholly alien and contrary to the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith.
 
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). God hates idolatry, and in two Commandments (the first and second) specifically prohibits any form of idolatry. For their idolatry in the wilderness, the Lord plagued the people (Exod 32:35). The heathen nations in Canaan were to be utterly destroyed for their idolatry. Despite God’s prohibitions and warnings, idolatry crept into the church when the Roman Emperor adopted Christianity as the official religion of the State in the 4th Century. Since then, images have become an integral part of RC worship. So, the RC worships (“venerates”) images of Mary, the “Holy Family” and various “saints.” Are you guilty of the sin of idolatry? Confess and repent. God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
 
Space will allow us to touch briefly on one other subject: that of Prayer. Our Lord taught the disciples to pray to God the Father, in the name of Jesus, and not to use vain repetitions (Matt 6:6-13; John 14:13-14). The RC’s teaching on Prayer contradicts God’s Word. RC’s prayers are directed to Mary and the saints (who are both dead and buried). Rosary prayers addressed to Mary are made ten times more often than those addressed to Christ, and the vain repetition is directly contrary to our Lord’s teaching. Before we leave this topic, we note that the RC has other grave errors and un-christian practices: the mass, purgatory, penance, confession, indulgence, etc. What a massive FALLING AWAY it is, with almost 1,000 million followers!
 
THOUGHT: The marvel is: these erroneous doctrines and practices are gaining wide acceptance by Christians.
PRAYER: Father, keep me in Thy narrow way which leadeth unto life (Matt 7:14).
