THE GLORIOUS APPEARING (1)
 
All HISTORY and PROPHECY look to the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ, the believers’ BLESSED HOPE. What is the nature of His coming?
 
1. He comes IN PERSON. Our Lord said so. “I will come again, and receive you… that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:3). “Ye now… have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice…” (John 16:22). And Acts 1:11: “This same Jesus… shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
 
2. He comes VISIBLY. “This same Jesus” who appeared as the RISEN CHRIST to His disciples has “flesh and bones” (Luke 24:39). When He returns “every eye shall see him” (Rev 1:7). “Behold, He comes” and “Behold, I come” occur five times in the book of Revelation. What are we to BEHOLD except it be a VISIBLE APPEARING?
 
3. He comes WITH CLOUDS. Daniel saw it 500 years before Christ! He said, “Behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven” (Dan 7:13). When our Lord ascended to heaven “a cloud received him” (Acts 1:9). The angels said that He “shall so come in like manner…” So, Revelation 1:7 said, “Behold, he cometh with clouds.”
 
4. He comes SUDDENLY. Our Lord’s coming from heaven will be a momentous, startling, sudden and dazzling event. “For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Matt 24:27). It will be with awesome rapidity and awesome finality. There will not be time to “get ready”!
 
5. He comes WITH POWER AND GREAT GLORY. Not as a helpless Babe of Bethlehem, or Suffering Servant to be crucified, but as Alpha and Omega, the Almighty Creator, KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS. On that day, “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…” (Phil 2:10‑11).
 
THOUGHT: Will I share in His glory or flee from His presence?
