JULY 11, 1 Kings 17:11-16

You would know the story of “Aladdin and his magic lamp”. It is just that – a story, a fairy tale. What about the story of a barrel of meal and the cruse of oil that did not run out until the rain came? It is a true account in history. It is recorded in the Bible which is God’s word. There are many of such accounts in the Bible about God’s special provision of daily needs for His people.

When God’s people were wandering for forty years in the wilderness, God supplied them with fresh manna daily and water. Even their clothing and footwear did not wear out. This is impossible today, and it is impossible for any human to reproduce, but with God, nothing is impossible. Another such miracle is recorded in the New Testament (Matthew 14:14-21). Jesus fed five thousand of His followers with just five loaves and two fishes given by a boy. This means that every time the disciples reached into the basket holding his loaves of bread, the loaves kept multiplying.

God never changes. Just as He provides for His people in the past, He will do the same today.
