MARCH 7, Philippians 1:22-30; John 14:1-3
The picture of death is always one of gloom and doom. Some elderly folks tried to lift the gloom of death by decorating coffins. Do you think that would work? There would usually also be mourning over the loss of life. So, why did Apostle Paul look at death as “gain” to him? Why should it be considered as gain to a Christian when he dies?
The answer lies in John 14:1-3. To Christians, death is not the end. It is just going home to be with the Lord Jesus who has prepared a place for us.
What does verse 1 say that we should not be?
How can we avoid this negative feeling?

Christians have an inheritance which is not defiled, nor temporal, nor corruptible. The present heaven and earth will pass away; we will live in the new heaven and earth where there is no sin nor suffering nor sorrow. Jesus will return and bring us to this glorious place. Therefore, to die is surely gain.
Share the good news of God’s promise of a place in heaven for Christians with your grandparents, cousins and friends.
Thought: When you live for Christ, death is not your enemy.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to share the good news of Jesus with others, especially with my unsaved loved ones and friends. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
