THE MIND OF CHRIST

MARCH 10, Philippians 2:5-8

Have you heard this hymn before?

May the mind of Christ my Saviour, Live in me from day to day;
By His love and power controlling, All I do and say.

What does it mean to have the mind of Christ in us? Does it not mean we should have the same thoughts, desires and feelings that Christ Jesus has? Yes, we must be Christ-like.

Jesus came down from heaven. While he could be ministered to by millions of angels, he became a servant without a murmur. Persecuted, he suffered in silence. Wronged by many, he readily forgave. Full of compassion, he prayed and wept for the lost. He was the helper of the helpless and needy. He loved the unlovable.

“Oh, but I am not powerful like Jesus was. How can I do what Jesus did?” Well, we are not expected to do all that Jesus did. We are expected to have the mind of Christ. That means that we are to humbly follow Jesus in his obedience and trust in our Heavenly Father. We are simply to do God’s will.

Many heroes of faith had the mind of Christ. Circle their names.

Thought: To have the mind of Christ is to be humble and obedient to God.

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, mould me that I may have the mind of Christ. This is going to be very tough but with Your help, I would be able to slowly become more and more like Him. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
