MARCH 11, Philippians 2:6-11
Imagine this - the Son of God became a mere mortal like you and me! Born of a virgin, Jesus came as a baby and went through all the stages of growth from a baby to a teenager and then to an adult. All his bodily functions and emotional make-up are as those of any human being. What kinds of pain do you fear most? Jesus felt it too. He felt pain, hunger, thirst, sorrow and joy. He also faced temptations in this world, just like we do.
Jesus is both God and a man without sin. Though he faced the same circumstances as we do, he did not sin. Though He suffered ill treatment and rejection from His own people, He persevered. He bore all the persecutions in silence and was ever ready to forgive when they would repent.
He came to save sinners like you and me. Only He could live a perfectly righteous life to fulfil God’s law on our behalf. In obedience, Jesus came to die on the cross bearing all our sins. No other person could ever pay the debt of our sin except Jesus. What a Saviour!
Do you believe that God sent Jesus to die for your sins? Have you confessed that you are a sinner and you need Jesus to be your Saviour? Have you invited Jesus into your heart to be your Lord? If not, you are only a Christian in name. God will not hear any of your prayers until you have confessed your sin and asked Jesus to be your saviour. God will only hear prayers said in Jesus’ name which is above all names!
A VERY URGENT MATTER: Quietly search your own heart to see if you have ever said the sinner’s prayer:
“Heavenly Father, I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus came into the world to die for the sinners of the world and he had died for me. Please forgive me my sins. I want Jesus to come into my heart to be my Lord and Saviour. I want to trust and obey Thee. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
If you admit that you have sinned and believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave, and you are prepared to commit your life to trust and obey Jesus Christ, then you have salvation. Trusting and obeying Christ means you will daily read God’s Word and pray always.
Thought: Jesus is the only way of salvation.
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, thank You for our Lord Jesus Christ who died to save us from our sins. What a Saviour! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
