MARCH 14, Philippians 2:14-18
Murmuring, complaining, blaming and grumbling has the same meaning. Time and again, Apostle Paul warned Christians against this sin. He also reminded them of the destruction of the Israelites in the wilderness because of their murmurings.
Why do people grumble? It is because of discontentment. When people are not satisfied with the circumstances they are in, they grumble. The weather is too hot. There is too much work. The food is lousy. The maid is so slow. Why can’t I be as beautiful? The bus ride is so jerky... The list goes on. When people do not receive what they think they deserve, they complain.
Jesus said that it is out of the heart that the issues of life come (Matthew 15:16-20). Grumbling reflects an ungrateful heart. Therefore, it is a grave sin for Christians to murmur and complain. Christians ought to be thankful and content because we have already received the best gift from God, which is eternal life. What else do we need to crave for?
Children, if you wish to shine for Christ, do not grumble. Do all things cheerfully to please God. What should you do instead of grumbling? Be CONTENTED!

Thought: Grumbling dishonours God; contentment honours God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to honour You by not being a grumbler. Instead, teach me to be content with what You have so graciously given to me. And teach me to do my duties without grumbling too! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
