PETER – AN APOSTLE TO THE CIRCUMCISION
 
Let us continue to learn from the life of Apostle Peter. The Lord entrusted the keys of the kingdom to him, saying: “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matt 16:19).
 
Peter’s ministry was directed primarily toward the Jews. His preaching at Pentecost and his leadership among Jewish believers in Jerusalem confirmed this calling. As Paul testified, “the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter” (Gal 2:7).
 
Yet, Peter did not exalt himself or compete with the other Apostles. He did not claim superiority or headship over the church. Instead, he faithfully fulfilled the divine appointment given to him. Each servant of God has a unique assignment, but the Gospel remains one, whether to the circumcision or the uncircumcision.
 
Our calling is not about prominence or competition. If we belong to a larger church, we should strengthen the smaller ones. If our ministry seems hidden, we should remember that faithfulness, not fame, is what God values. We are not racing against one another, but running together to finish the course set before us by the Lord. All must end well. All must be winners. Each must fulfil the work God has assigned. Let us serve not for our own glory, but for His honour. The strength we use is His, not ours. The success we experience belongs to Him, not us.
 
Therefore, let us not boast in our tasks but rejoice in the privilege of serving. Let us bear one another’s burdens, so that together we may receive commendation from our Lord. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord” (Matt 25:21).
 
THOUGHT: Do I view my position as greater than others, or as a humble assignment from God?
PRAYER: Father, teach me that whether the work is great or small, what matters most is Thy glory and honour. Help me to serve Thee faithfully, humbly, and joyfully, giving all praise to Thee.
