PETER: HIS LETTER TO THE SCATTERED STRANGERS
 
Peter was one of the most prominent apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ. He wrote to the scattered saints to strengthen their faith in the midst of persecution. In the early church, many believers were displaced into distant lands. He reminded them that they were “strangers and pilgrims,” not citizens of this world, but citizens of the Kingdom of God, where suffering and death will one day be no more. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1 Pet 1:3-5).
 
Today, communication is far easier. With social media, messages can reach across the globe in an instant. Yet, with this privilege comes responsibility. The digital world is flooded with both truth and falsehood, and it is often difficult to discern what is trustworthy. In such a climate, believers must be intentional about how they use these tools.
 
Are we using social media to encourage fellow believers? Do our words bring comfort to those who suffer? Do our posts strengthen and edify the body of Christ? Or are we merely promoting ourselves, showing off places we have visited, meals we have enjoyed, or possessions we have acquired?
 
God has given us this technology as an open door for ministry. Let us not waste it. Instead, let us use it to share hope, to remind others that they are not alone, to assure them of our prayers, and to point them to the providential care of the Lord. Just as Peter wrote to encourage the scattered brethren, so we too can encourage one another, even across great distances.
 
THOUGHT: Am I using my words and platforms to be an encouragement to others?
PRAYER: Father, grant me wisdom in every message I send. May my words be a source of blessing, comfort, and strength to others, always directing others to Thee, and bringing glory to Thy name.
