PAUL: HIS LETTER TO THE EPHESIANS
 
Another one of Paul’s epistles is the letter to the Ephesians. The Apostle Paul, while imprisoned in Rome, wrote this letter to the saints in Ephesus with a clear purpose: to magnify the sovereign grace of God. In this epistle, Paul revealed how God extended His grace both to rebellious Jews and to ignorant Gentiles, uniting them into one body in Christ Jesus, saved only by grace through faith.
 
How deep is the love of God, that He elected His people for salvation even before the foundation of the world! How wondrous it is that He predestined His chosen ones to be adopted as His children through Jesus Christ. How immeasurable is His grace, that we should become partakers of His glory through the shed blood of Christ, by which our sins are forgiven.
 
Let us thank Him for His grace, which opened our blind eyes and granted us faith to believe in Christ. Let us thank Him that salvation is not by works of the law, for we could never earn the perfect righteousness God requires. Let us thank Him that though we were sinful by nature and unable to please Him, He has restored us in Christ Jesus, creating us anew for good works to serve and glorify Him.
 
As Gentiles, we must be especially grateful for being included in His marvellous plan of redemption. Though unworthy and undeserving, we have been given the privilege of salvation in Christ. Once despised by the Jews as fuel for hell, we have now, by His mercy, been made fellow heirs with Christ, not only in this present world but in the world to come. “According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him” (Eph 3:11-12).
 
What joy should fill our hearts at the certainty of salvation in Christ! What blessed assurance should fill our minds, knowing we are part of His eternal Kingdom. What zeal should stir our souls to reconsecrate our lives to Him who chose us and saved us for His glory!
 
THOUGHT: Am I truly living as one of God’s elect?

PRAYER: Father, help me to serve Thee faithfully, as I ought.
