ALWAYS BE JUST

JANUARY 14

PROVERBS 11:1

ALWAYS BE JUST

"It’s not fair!" Don’t you often hear your sister or brother say this? "You cheated." is also a popular complaint from friends at play. Even young children know how to cry for justice. Do you know that God loves justice much more than anyone? He hates cheats because He is holy and just. He will never bless those who use unfair means to gain profits in business. That is why we can be sure that cheats never prosper.

Look at the example of one market stall owner. He sold all kinds of foodstu like rice, sugar, salt, beans and canned food. He cheated by using a tampered weighing machine or what the Bible calls a false balance. One day his malpractices were discovered by a long-time customer. She began to boycott his stall and told all her friends and the whole neighbourhood about the stall holder. All his customers joined in the boycott. Eventually, he had to pack up his business and moved elsewhere.

Once, a lady sent her car to the carwash to have the carpets vacuumed. e cleaner found a ve dollar note under the passenger’s seat. He immediately returned the note to its owner. Guess what? The lady was so touched by his honesty that she gave the note to him!

God is watching even when things are done in secret. The Lord hates liars and cheats but He delights in honest people. So in whatever you do, remember that honesty is the best policy.

Thought: Nobody may know we are cheating, but the Lord will.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be honest even when nobody is looking. Help me to admit it if I do not know how to do my homework and not be afraid to ask my teachers for help. May I never want to cheat in my tests and exams. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
