SAFETY COMES FROM GOD

JANUARY 26

PROVERBS 21:31

SAFETY COMES FROM GOD

"Be careful when you cross the road." As usual, Eddie’s mom reminded him to look left and right and wait for the green man to appear on the lights before crossing. Eddie would assure his mom: "Don’t worry Mom, I will do that." Eddie’s mom knew Eddie was a very obedient and responsible boy. She was not worried at all. However, an hour later, her mobile phone rang. It was a call from the police. Eddie had met with a car accident and had a fracture in his left leg.

"What happened, Eddie? I told you to be careful. Didn’t you wait for the green man?" Mom was feeling anxious and agitated by the thought of Eddie’s carelessness.

"I did Mom. I was very careful. But, I know what went wrong. I didn’t pray for safety today." Eddie’s mom was puzzled. She did not know safety comes from God because she did not know Jesus. Eddie then told Mom about Jesus and how she must trust God.

Very often, we trust our own intelligence and strength to keep us well and safe. We would make sure we were looking out for traffic, eating right, exercising regularly and studying diligently. We are like the armies in King David’s time, which depend on the number and power of horses to win battles. We often forget to pray for God’s protection!

Answers to these questions will help you to remember:
1. Do you know why we pray before we travel?
It is because safety is of ____________________ .
2. Who can keep us safe from earthquakes, tsunamis, oods and pestilence?
     Safety comes from ____________________ .
3. Who can deliver us from evil?
      Safety belongs to ____________________ .

Thought: Nothing and no one can guarantee us safety except God.
Prayer: Teach me Heavenly Father, to trust in You at all times for safety. I don’t want to take safety for granted, and pray that You will protect my family and friends from evil and danger. ank You for watching over us. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
