MARCH 13
Esther 2:21-23
GOD SEES YOUR GOOD DEEDS!
Do you feel disappointed when people don’t show appreciation for what you’ve done? Today’s story encourages us that though men may not notice our good deeds, God knows and sees everything that we do in His name.
Mordecai sat in the king’s gate, meaning he was in position that handled the affairs of king Ahasuerus. During this time, he came to know of an evil scheme to kill the king. The men behind this scheme were the king’s chamberlains (high ranking servants), Bigthan and Teresh, who guarded the king’s house. For some reason, they were so full of anger toward the king, it led them to plot to kill him. Considering they were the guards of the king’s house, the king didn’t have any defense against them! Enemies from the inside are harder to detect, compared to enemies from the outside.
When this evil plot came to Mordecai’s attention, he told it to Esther who reported the matter in Mordecai’s name. After investigations, Bigthan and Teresh were hung and the matter recorded in the king’s book of chronicles (some form of record book). But Ahasuerus did not reward Mordecai who saved his life!
This is a significant event that will be brought up later for Mordecai will be duly rewarded. Our deeds of service and good works may go unnoticed by men, but know that God sees, and will reward in His time. Remember that we have a fair and just God. Be honest, be true, God is watching over you! God shall reward your good deeds in His good timing.
What are some of the good deeds you can do? What are some you have done? If you have not done any, why is it so? If we say we are Christians, we must like to do good deeds. Good deeds can come in the form of:
• helping a classmate in his school work
• send cards to someone who is sad
• standing up for some bullied
• volunteering to assist the teacher
• willingness to share things
The list goes on. Such "good deeds" don’t make us a Christian. But being a Christian will make us do good deeds.
Thought: Others may not see, but God sees and that’s all that matters.
Prayer: Father in Heaven, I praise You for You are a fair and just God. You are the one who sees all things and will reward according to Your time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
