JUNE 17
Psalm 23:2-3
THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD
When Jesus, the Good Shepherd makes us to lie down in green pastures, He gives us sufficient peace and quietness to read God’s word and ponder over it.
Do not read God’s Word as though you are in a rush. Read carefully and slowly to digest it, and all its goodness will sink into your heart. The word of God is like the green pastures and the still waters that are so necessary to the sheep. God’s word is always fresh, always rich and always true even though you were to read it till you are old.
There is a second part to a Christian’s life – active service to the Lord. We are not only to hear and think about God’s word, but we are to act upon it as well.
Like the sheep described, we are not always to lie down to feed, but are to keep walking and working. The Holy Spirit that indwells every believer will give you the strength. He will guide you in the right path, to enable you to serve the God e ectively.
Little children can serve at home, in school and in church. For example, at home, you can serve God by putting your dirty school uniform on the laundry pile without being told. In school, you can serve God by being a diligent student and a helpful classmate. How about church? You can serve God by paying attention to what is being preached, and by singing and praying with your heart and mind. You can also help make sure other Sunday School friends remain quiet when your teacher is speaking.
No Christian is too small to serve God. When we do things for our Lord, that is serving the Lord!
How will you serve God from today? List at least 3 things.

Thought: God is always there to shepherd us. He is a very present help in the day of trouble.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word. I thank You for restoring my soul when I am weak, and leading me in the paths of righteousness for Your sake. May I be a faithful child of Yours. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
