THE RIGHTEOUS IS RICHER

JUNE 25

Psalm 37:16-17

THE RIGHTEOUS IS RICHER

If you became really poor, how do you think you would be living your life each day? Would you still be having at least three meals a day? Would you buy food, books and toys less often? Would you stop using the air-conditioner at home?

Now in contrast, what if you became really wealthy? How do you think you would be living your life each day? Do you think you prefer such a lifestyle or the previous one?

Here again in this psalm, the Lord reminds us that the little a righteous man may have is much better than abundant riches of the wicked. Ths is a good reminder for us - the world has many temptations that might make us envious..Let’s say your family can afford a video game set such as Wii. Video games cost more than card games such as Uno. If your friends have the latest game versions and consoles, you’ll also likely want to buy them to enjoy the same thrill as they. You’l llikely want to keep up with your friends. Are you able to feel no envy if your family can’t afford the new versions? Will having the latest game or toy make you feel you’re better than your friends? If yes, isn’t this pride?

The riches of the wicked will be their undoing. Like the breaking of one’s arms from a high fall, God will render them weak. In time, their power to do evil things shall be taken away. At the same time, God always remembers the righteous and strengthens them.

Read verse 16. When would a man who has little be better than a man who has much?
Answer: _______________________________________________

Thought: What will make me truly rich?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me love and wisely use what You have blessed me with. Help me not to crave physical things and to know contentment for whatever You have given me through my parents. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
