JULY 20
1 Corinthians 12:20
ONE BODY
The Tan family bought an apartment near Pasir Panjang as their twin kids were to be posted to a school nearby. Soon after they moved to their new home, the neighbors came to welcome them. They were nice people, especially the Teo family. Right from the start, both families struck a right cord and seemed like old friends.
“I’m glad to see that cross on your wall,”Mrs Teo said to Mrs Tan.“We believe in Jesus too, so that makes us families.”
When everybody was gone, Mrs Tan told her husband, “Isn’t it wonderful how quickly we feel at home with people who believe in Jesus like we do?”
Mr Tan said that when he was serving his term in the Army, he was always glad to find someone else who was also a Christian. The love of Jesus drew His people together. The couple recalled that when they were overseas doing their postgraduate studies, they got along well with the Christians; they met for Bible studies and fellowship.
Mr Tan’s children were listening to the conversation. Their youngest daughter Charis said chirpily,” We learnt about that in Sunday school. In Christ we, who are many, form one body. There are many parts in a body, but they are all connected to the head. Jesus is the Head of His church.”
Christians love God and want to obey God. They are all related like brothers and sisters. They are a part of God’s family – that is the meaning of being “one body” in Christ. That’s why they want to worship and work together with other Christians.

Thought: Isn’t it wonderful we are one body with other Christians!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for making us members of Your family. Help us to love and work together with other brothers and sisters. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
