JULY 31
1 Corinthians 16:22
LOVE NOT THE LORD
Sometimes we need to be warned before we fear. If we don’t do our homework, we cannot watch the television or play the computer. If we are rude to grandparents, we will get caning. If we don’t hand in our assignment, we will be detained in class. If we don’t keep quiet, we don’t get the goodies bags. When we are warned of serious consequences, we will fear and not do the wrong things.
God’s words must be taken seriously. Paul ends his epistle by giving a threat – if you don’t love the Lord, you are cursed. There are many Christians in name who do not love Jesus in sincerity. Can Jesus who loved us gave Himself for us shedding His blood for us not deserve our love and affection?
Those who reject Him will face judgment of God. They will perish.
Read John 3:36 and find out what else will happen to those who believe not on the Son. “... he that believeth not the Son shall not see __________; but the __________ of God abideth on him.”
Those who do not love Him cannot be Christians. But when we are true in our faith in Jesus, we will produce sincere love to Him. Don’t be a Christian in name only!
So, how to be a Christian in action? We must walk in love as we go through life. Our whole life is to be like a walk with Jesus. Along the way, we sometimes forget to do the right things. We need to remember that Jesus is walking right beside us. We can ask God to help us do the things He wants us to do. As Jesus loved us that He gave His life for us on the cross, we love as He loved. We can ask God to help us to forget about ourselves and do things for other people.
A song to sing:
Walking with Jesus, walking everyday, walking all the way Walking with Jesus, walking with Jesus alone
Walking in the sunlight, walking in the shadow
Walking everyday, walking all the way
Walking in the sunlight, walking in the shadow Walking with Jesus alone
Thought: How do you walk in love?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help us walk in love just like the way Jesus did when He was on earth – He walked in love. Forgive us when we forget. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
