Judges 6:12
GOD’S PRAISE FOR GIDEON
As Gideon was secretly threshing wheat, the Angel of the LORD appeared to him. Hear what the Angel of the LORD said: "The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour." The word "valour" means courage or heroism. So, Gideon was like a hero. The LORD had seen the brave things Gideon had done.
Children, what about you? Have you ever done anything brave for the Lord? Have you taken the brave step of sharing the gospel with a friend or loved one? Have you ever invited a friend to church? Or have you been in constant fear that they might say ‘no’ or might laugh at you. Even so, should you just give up? When someone takes the Lord’s name in vain, do you sheepishly keep quiet?
Have you ever own up to a mistake you have made before? That is also a brave thing to do. Or apologise to someone whom you have offended – that takes courage too.
God knows everything about you and me - what we think, say or do. If the Angel of the Lord were to appear to you, would he praise you and call you "a mighty child of valour"? Be brave, not to show off your strength but because the Lord is with you, like He was with Gideon.
