Judges 6:33-35
THE SOLDIERS’ OBEDIENCE
The enemies of the Israelites gathered together in the Valley of Jezreel. They included the Midianites, the Amalakites and all the children of the east who joined forces to attack the Israelites.
Gideon needed great courage. Not only was he up against a strong army which numbered many, but at the same time, his own people were angry with him. God, once again, did not desert Gideon. The spirit of God was with Gideon. (v34) He blew a loud trumpet and sent messengers to gather the people together from all around. The soldiers did turn up. Who do you think has the power to move them?
We need strong and courageous leaders like Gideon who was filled with the Holy Spirit. But could you imagine the situation in which the people refuse to come when Gideon called them? Or the messengers were too lazy and could not be bothered to go call the people? In your family, school and church, it takes teamwork to achieve things. Doesn’t it? Every Christian has a part, however big or small to play in doing God’s work. Are you doing your part for the LORD? Are you a good soldier of the Lord? Do you support activities of your Sunday School or Junior Worship?
Write down 2 things at home and in churchthat you can do for the Lord:

Thought: May I be a good soldier for God!
Prayer: Our heavenly Father, help me remember that I am to be a soldier and to do Your bidding. That means I am to serve You wherever I go, whether at home, at school, at play. Help me keep this in my heart and all the time. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
