JULY 26, 1 Peter 1: 4
An inheritance is a possession or asset given to children when their ancestors pass away. Wealthy people can leave a lot of material wealth to generations after them, but however much they leave behind, these possessions or vast sums of money would be used up one day, sooner or later. These inheritances are also not free from theft, or fraud. Whether your parents are wealthy or not, our heavenly Father is wealthy beyond degree! And guess what, He has an inheritance for you and me!
Turn to 1 Peter 1:4. This verse reminds us of yesterday’s lesson, that our salvation is guaranteed or reserved. On top of that, we learn something else, that our spiritual inheritance has a few characteristics. What are they?
What our heavenly inheritance is not?

All earthly inheritances can be corrupted. The richest people in this world can leave behind millions to their sons and daughters when they die. The father loves his children and has the means and money to save and invest so that his children may receive riches out of his hands. God is also such a loving Father but His inheritance is infinitely and immeasurably better.
Thought: God has promised us a rich inheritance.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your rich inheritance of salvation, which I do not deserve. I pray I will treasure this most precious of all inheritances, more valuable than any can boast of! Help me to live my life that I have this wonderful guarantee of eternal life from Thee. This I ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
