AUGUST 31, 1 John 3:1-2

Lily is the apple of mummy’s eye. Ryan is the coach’s favourite. Jack is Mrs. Ling’s favourite student. Are you someone’s favourite? When you are someone’s favourite, he or she is very fond of you. Your affairs matter much to him or her.

Interestingly, Christians are God’s favourites. Today’s text tells us so:

• The Father adopts us and we are sons of God.
• We are sinners but the Father is not ashamed to be called our Father, and to call us His sons.
• The Father loves us with an everlasting love.
• We are heirs with the Son of God.
• We will inherit from God.
• We shall be like the Son in honour, power and glory
• We shall see the Son and the Father.

The Lord has blessed you with so much. As we consider today’s topic – learn to be grateful for the much He has given. List below some of the blessings God has given you – and thank God for them!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and for adopting us to be Your children. We are Your favourites! In Jesus’ name I pray – Amen.
