THE LORD MAKES ME DWELL IN SAFETY

JUNE 5, Psalm 4:1-8

King David had enemies who wanted to kill him. Here, he calls upon God to hear his prayer and have mercy upon him so that his enemies would realise how foolish they are to attack those who belong to God, for God protects them.

At the same time, David wanted his loyal followers not to become bitter and sin against the Lord. They should remain patient during this time of hardship as God will deliver in His good time.

Some of King David’s followers asked, “Who will show us any good?” Perhaps they were losing heart and concluding that their cause was lost. But David encourages them not to give up. The Lord will show them good. He will let the light of His face shine upon them. David was fully confident in the Lord.

When you feel sad, remember this beautiful prayer of David and wait upon the LORD. Even in the darkest of nights, the light of God’s face will shine upon us.

Thought: What is the first thing I normally do when faced with difficulty?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please teach me to run to You in prayer first whenever I am troubled. Please continue to make Your face to shine upon us. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
