RIDICULOUS EXCUSE!

JULY 12 Romans 3: 5-8

By this time, Paul has proven that both Gentiles and Jews were sinners. So, what’s the point of being a Jew? The Jews had a very special privilege – they were made guardians of the Bible! Such an honour, Paul highlighted in verse 1-2.

But by then, because they were told they were sinners like Gentiles, many Jews started thinking in their hearts:

My jaw dropped when reading this. What about yours? Yet many times, we do make many unreasonable excuses for our sins!

Jack is envious of his younger brother James. James was always the good boy before Mummy’s eyes. But the fact is true. He is more obedient than Jack. One day, after Mummy scolded Jack for doing something wrong, he shouted,” Yah! I will be ‘badder’ so you can still have your goody boy ( James) with you!”

Dear children, when our sins are pointed out,

  •  do not be angry and do not make excuses
  •  repent and pray for forgiveness from God
  •  make right

Be like David, when Nathan pointed out his sin of adultery and murder: 2 Samuel 12:13, “And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.”

Thought: May we recognise our errors and repent!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me a meek and teachable heart to admit my sins and repent. Often I am too proud to admit I am wrong, so Heavenly Father, please help me to be humble. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
