ADD TO BROTHERLY KINDNESS, CHARITY

MARCH 13, 2 Peter 1:7

The Apostle Paul exhorts us to grow in eight virtues. The last of these virtues is charity. “Charity” means love in action. It is a sacrificial form of love. It is the same kind of love that the Lord Jesus Christ has shown towards us in dying on the Cross for our sins. Here, Peter encourages us to love one another. But let our love not be like that of the world, for it should spring from a cleansed and renewed heart.

The ladder of Christian virtues must end in Christian love. To whom can you show love? Start with your family. Be respectful and grateful to your parents, be kind and considerate to your siblings, be generous and gracious to your friends. We have been studying the list of virtues so far. Can you recall the list?

Fill in this golden chain of eight virtues starting with “faith”.

Thought: May I learn to love others just as God loves me.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, teach me to love, for You are love. It is only because of the great love You have for us that You sent Jesus. For that incomparable act of love and sacrifice, I am so grateful. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
