JULY 3, John 3:5-8
The life-giving power of the Spirit is taught in Christ’s conversation with Nicodemus. No one can enter into the kingdom of God by his own efforts. No matter how good one is, or how hard one works, he or she is still not good enough to enter God’s kingdom.
Only the Spirit of God can bring about a new spiritual birth to a person. The Holy Spirit works in a quiet, non-showy way, making a man repent of his sins, recognising he is a sinner, and having him put his faith and trust in Jesus. A child like you can also come to Jesus, if the Holy Spirit so chooses and works in you.
Another time, Jesus told someone that the Holy Spirit is needed for conversion is when he spoke with the Samaritan woman in John 4. In that passage, he mentioned that whosoever drinks the water He gives shall never thirst again. What does that mean?
This water from Jesus is not water that we can see or touch. It is the powerful work of grace, the invisible life-giving power of the Spirit that gives eternal, everlasting life to the believer.

Thought: Do I have this water of spiritual life?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessed Holy Spirit that I may be born into Your eternal kingdom. I pray that not only will I have eternal life, but I will have abundant life through Him, that I may live life the way You will want me to, in a happy and blessed way. This I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
