GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES!

SEPTEMBER 5, Isaiah 1:25-31; 2:1-5

In these verses, God Himself promised that He would restore Jerusalem again. As He is a righteous God, He had to chasten her and deal with her sins first. However, as He is a loving God, He will make her clean, and turn her into a “city of righteousness, the faithful city” (Isaiah 1:26).

Isaiah looked forward to this period of blessings in the future. Today, Israel has been in the land for 71 years. God had gathered His people back in the land of Israel in 1948 and Israel has blossomed. But Isaiah also looked to that golden age of Christ’s millennial rule when Jerusalem would be thoroughly cleansed. Then, Jerusalem would truly be the “city of righteousness, the faithful city”.

But before that day comes, there must be a terrible reckoning, a time of judgement for the whole world., “destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed” (Isaiah 1:28). Even the strong will be destroyed. Jesus our Saviour is our only refuge! Have you sought refuge in Jesus?

Write the captions “Jerusalem the City of Righteousness” and “Jerusalem Under Destruction” under the correct picture.

Thought: God keeps His promises.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for restoring Israel as You said You would. Please remind me You are a God who keeps Your promises and helps me to walk the Christian way as a child of Yours should. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
