GOD CALLS ISAIAH

SEPTEMBER 8, Isaiah 6:1-13

God calls men and women to serve him in different ways. Moses was called when he was shepherding flocks of sheep at the desert of Mount Horeb. There God spoke to him out of the burning bush.

Here, God showed Isaiah a glorious vision, involving both sight and sound. It was an awesome and unforgettable experience in Isaiah’s life. When God reveals Himself to man, He humbles the creature to the dust. This is the experience of every servant called by God. Isaiah said, “Woe is me! ...because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips” (Isaiah 6:5). Then God sent a live coal and laid it upon his mouth. Immediately Isaiah was cleansed by God’s act of grace and mercy and he answered the glorious call of God.

Isaiah confessed his unworthiness before the Almighty God. He acknowledged his hopeless condition and humbled himself. Only by confessing our sins before God, and humbling ourselves before Him can we be truly cleansed, through the precious blood of His Son, our Lord Jesus.

What is the meaning of the hot live coal applied to the lips of Isaiah?

1. It shows the __________ effect on the prophet’s mouth.
2. It shows also the __________ and acceptance of Isaiah the prophet.
3. It shows divine grace to rekindle the first __________ so as to fit him for the Master’s use.

Thought: You can serve God too!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, although I am but a young child, may I serve You in simple ways such as being kind and courteous to others. May this behaviour come from a heart renewed by the love of Jesus. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
