OCTOBER 4, Psalm 48:1-2 

Another verse in the Bible, Ezekiel 5:5, states, “ Thus saith the Lord God; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.”

Israel is at the center of three continents. To the north is Europe, to the east is Asia and to the south-west is Africa. Commercially, this means that it is at the crossroads of the world. People and especially merchants who travel from one country to another will have to pass through Israel and bring not only their merchandise but also news of faraway lands.

In the future when Jesus reigns on earth for 1,000 years, the pre- eminent position of Israel will be even clearer as all will want to worship at Jerusalem. It will be the joy of the whole earth. Its “mountain of His holiness” makes it beautiful, for holiness is beauty. It will be the city of the King of kings, the Lord Jesus Christ who will reign the whole earth from this very city.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we marvel at Your wisdom as You plan for Jerusalem. May I be reminded to trust in Your plans for me too. Although I am only a child, teach me to start committing my future into Your hands, and to always trust and obey. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
