GOD WAS LONG-SUFFERING TOWARDS ELIJAH

JULY 24, 1 Kings 19:9-10

Elijah stayed in a cave at Mt. Horeb. We know that it was not a command from God. In fact, God came to ask him what he was doing at Mt. Horeb.

It was an opportunity for Elijah to pour out his frustrations to God. His sole concern was to see the people of Israel repent. He thought he was the one and only faithful prophet who obeyed every word of God during his time. But, Jezebel and King Ahab were now after his life. The people had showed no sign of repentance. He felt it was pointless being the only faithful person zealous about God’s work.

What lessons can we learn here? There is nowhere we can hide from God. He will catch up with us sooner or later. It is better to pray and wait for God’s direction whenever we face a problem. Very often, we disobey God and do things as we please. But God is long-suffering to us. He will gently guide us back to the right path. Isn’t God wonderful?

Thought: Running away from doing God’s work is foolish.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to seek Thee always when I face problems in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
