JULY 28, 1 Kings 19:18
God revealed to Elijah that there was a remnant of 7,000 in Israel who had remained loyal worshippers of Him. They had neither bowed to Baal nor kissed him. How do you think they could remain faithful to God when the whole nation was worshipping idols?
It is God who has preserved their faith because their hearts were for Him. If we love God with all our hearts, minds, souls and strength, He will surely protect us from the devil and his attack. How do we know that? It is by listening to the still small voice and by studying God’s Word. This remnant of believers of God kept God’s law in their hearts and obeyed God’s Word. They stood firm on the Lord’s side. Just like we need food daily, we need to read the Bible every day if we want to grow spiritually. God’s Word is food for our souls.
Are you one of a few Christians in your class? Have any of your classmates ever teased you about being the “holy one”? Do you sometimes feel alone? Do some of your classmates try to tell you about how powerful their gods are? Well, remember Elijah and the 7,000 who did not bow their knees to Baal.
