FEBRUARY 8, John 10:14-15
What is love? Love is sacrifice. If you love someone, you would be willing to sacrifice for that person.
Your parents love you, and are willing to sacrifice time and effort to take care of you. They sacrificed sleep to watch over you when you had fever as a baby, for any baby who has a high fever and needs care through the night.
To love someone is also to shower attention and gifts. Sometimes, your father may also do something special for your mother. However, these expressions of love are different from sacrificing one’s life for a loved one. For example, if your house is on fire, and you’re trapped inside, your father or mother may not think of their own safety but immediately enter the house to save you.
In today’s Bible verses, we understand a little of what love can do. The good shepherd loves his sheep and cares for them. If they are too far from home, the shepherd will find a safe place, usually a cave, to stay for the night. He will lie across the (hole) entrance to protect his sheep from wild animals and robbers. If necessary, he will die to keep his sheep safe.
Never forget that Jesus died for you. Read the Bible diligently to know about Jesus and pray to the Heavenly Father. In this way, you’ll know and love God better. Remember, Jesus is the Good Shepherd who says, “I lay down my life for the sheep”.
