LOOK FORWARD TO HEAVEN

MARCH 22, Philippians 3:20-21

Why do we look forward to being in Heaven? The answer is found in this song:

Heaven is a wonderful place, Filled with glory and grace
I want to see my Saviour’s face, Heaven is a wonderful place

There is no sin or suffering in Heaven and it is where we will meet our Lord Jesus. As promised by Jesus, all Christians have obtained citizenship in Heaven.

For a foreigner to become a citizen of a certain country, he must fulfill certain requirements. He must either have the skills or be of a profession that the country needs or make a big investment. What qualifies one to be in Heaven? As soon as we accept Jesus as our Saviour, and as soon as we become a child of God, our citizenship in Heaven is assured!

We can be in Heaven after God has no more work for us to do in this world. Heaven is a wonderful place of glory and grace. Since our earthly bodies are not fit for Heaven, Jesus will give us a glorified body.

Can you tell what is wrong with the following illustration that a lady gave to a pastor about what a person needs to do to get to Heaven:

“Getting to heaven is like rowing a boat. One oar is faith while the other is works. If you use both, you will get there. If you use only one oar, you will go round in circles.” Scratching his head, the pastor commented, "Nobody can get to heaven by rowing a boat!”

Answer:
The illustration is incorrect because Salvation is by

__________ through __________ and not of __________
(Read Ephesians 2:8-9)

Thought: Heaven is a wonderful place!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for saving me and giving me a place in heaven. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
